Jakarta, InfoPublik – The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, emphasized that Indonesia is committed to continuing to play an active role in overcoming global problems and finding joint solutions with various countries. President Jokowi made this statement when opening the session of the Joint Leaders' High Level Multiparty Partnership Forum (HLF MSP) and the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) 2024 in Bali, Monday (2/9/2024).

In his remarks, President Jokowi emphasized the importance of Indonesia's role in international forums such as IAF 2024, which is a forum for advocating the interests of countries in the Global South while strengthening global solidarity and cooperation. “Indonesia is committed to contributing to global solutions, advocating for the interests of the Global South while also serving as a bridge-builder in promoting equality, justice, and solidarity to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” said President Jokowi.

The President also highlighted the primary focus of this high-level forum, namely the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). According to Jokowi, sustainable development is a crucial solution to addressing various global challenges.

"This is a consistent commitment that Indonesia has upheld since the Asia-Africa Conference 69 years ago," explained President Jokowi, referring to the Asia-Africa Conference held in Bandung in 1955. Jokowi emphasized that Indonesia remains committed to enhancing solidarity and collaboration with African nations.

Apart from that, President Jokowi emphasized the need for forums such as the 2nd HLF MSP and IAF to create positive change amidst various global challenges, such as economic slowdown, increasing unemployment, inflation that has not improved, and ongoing geopolitical tensions. These challenges, according to Jokowi, have caused many casualties and disrupted global supply chains.

The President expects that through this forum, participating countries can create a new direction and vision, as well as more inclusive and equitable strategies and tactical steps, particularly for developing countries.
