Jakarta, 29 August 2024—The 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF), which will take place in Nusa Dua, Bali, from 1 to 3 September 2024, is designed to serve as a catalyst for change, where ideas and concepts expected to be put into action. Agreements reached during the Indonesia-Africa Forum will take the form of deliverables, which can be implemented and have a direct impact.

The priority sectors of focus are economic transformation, energy and mining, food security, health, and development cooperation.

The Republic of Indonesia's Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pahala Nugraha Manshury, emphasized that the 2nd IAF is about more than just ideas; it is about doing concrete measures that bring results.

"It is estimated that the private sector and SOEs will reach agreements worth US$3.5 billion, or approximately Rp58 trillion. We hope that this forum will not only discuss plans to build cooperation between Indonesia and Africa but also produce concrete plans, given the immense potential that can be developed between the two," he stated on Thursday (29 August 2024) in Jakarta.

The first Rwandan Ambassador to Indonesia, Abdul Karim Harerimana, expressed a similar sentiment, stating that the 2nd IAF will also function as a platform for exchanging ideas to tackle development concerns.

His Excellency Paul Kagame, the President of Rwanda, will speak before the forum to share the experiences of countries in Africa, particularly Rwanda, in enhancing international development cooperation. This is expected to strengthen bilateral relationships between Indonesia and Rwanda, as well as other African countries as a whole.

"His attendance, along with other African leaders, is expected to deepen bilateral and multilateral relationships and open up opportunities for closer and mutually beneficial collaboration," Abdul stated.

In addition to the President of Rwanda, six other African heads of state will attend the 2nd IAF, including the President of Liberia, HE Joseph Boakai; the President of Ghana, HE Nana Akufo-Addo; the Prime Minister of Eswatini, HE Russell Mmiso Dlamini; the President of Zanzibar representing Tanzania, HE Hussein Ali Mwinyi; and Zimbabwe's Vice President, HE Constantino Chiwenga.

The IAF serves as the primary platform for Indonesia and African countries to enhance bilateral relationships, formulate strategic measures, and collaborate in addressing progressively complex global challenges.

The Republic of Indonesia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes its strong commitment to establishing a stable bridge of collaboration with African countries. The 2nd IAF is expected to generate new agreements and ideas in a spirit of togetherness, thereby shaping a brighter future for future generations. (Infomed Kemlu/TR/Elvira Inda Sari/SC/PR).
