Badung, 2 September 2024 – President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, called for global solidarity in implementing more tangible and concrete actions to address the economic slowdown, unemployment rate, inflation, and geopolitical tensions that have disrupted the global supply chain.

The Indonesian Head of State underscored this statement when opening the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF-MSP) and the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) in Nusa Dua Bali on Monday (2 September 2024).

The President emphasized the necessity of implementing new strategies and tactical steps that focus on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to achieve more equitable and inclusive development in developing countries.

For that reason, the Head of State underscored four main points. First, to focus on achieving the SDGs, aligning them with the national and regional development priorities, including the Africa Agenda 2063, and reinforcing them through multi-party partnerships.

Second, Indonesia's commitment to consistently participate in global solutions, protect the interests of developing countries and act as a bridge builder in advocating for equality, justice, and solidarity. "This is a consistent commitment that Indonesia has carried since the Asian-African Conference 69 years ago," he said.

Third, Indonesia’s assertiveness in opening the door to partnering with the African region is deemed crucial to the global development agenda. The Indonesia-Africa Forum 2024 has documented business deals totaling US$3.5 billion, nearly six times the amount reached during the first forum in 2018.

Fourth, to enhance South-South and North-South cooperation to overcome global challenges. With the same spirit, next year, Indonesia will hold the Platinum Jubilee of the Asian African Conference, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Asia Africa Summit.

"With this, I declare the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF MSP) and the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) Joint Leaders Session 2024 open," said the Head of State, ending his speech. (TR/Elvira Inda Sari/WS/SC).
