Badung, 1 September 2024 – Indonesia continuously strengthens its position and role on the international stage. In the past decade, President Joko Widodo's administration has hosted numerous international events impacting policies at the global level.

Communications and Informatics Minister (MCI) Budi Arie Setiadi hoped the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF MSP) and the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) held in Bali on 1—3 September will be a legacy in the country's history.

"In the past decade, Indonesia has been in the world's spotlight thanks to the various international fora. We hope HLF MSP and the 2nd IAF will leave a deep and positive impression in our history, including as the initiator of the 1955 Asian-African Conference," he said in a press conference at the HLF MSP and the 2nd IAF Media Center at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, Badung on Sunday, 1 September.

Indonesia is more than just a host of international fora, such as HLF-MSP and IAF. More importantly, Indonesia has become the main actor in encouraging mutually beneficial cooperation, especially with African countries.

"Indonesia and Africa have a similarity in their struggle for independence. Now, we are facing the global challenges in achieving common progress," he said.

According to him, the government has shown commitment to facilitating global dialogues through many international forums that build and strengthen cooperation in various fields.

"HLF-MSP and IAF are clear evidence of how Indonesia under President Jokowi's leadership plays a key role in strengthening relations between countries and fostering mutually beneficial cooperation," he explained.

Regarding IAF, Minister Budi Arie reminded the role of Indonesia as the initiator of the Asian-African Conference in 1955.

"We have a long history of supporting the independence and development of African countries, and now we are continuing that legacy through concrete initiatives in global forums,” he said.

The Minister underscored that Indonesia would continue to fight for common interests in international forums. This is in harmony with the spirit of friendship and cooperation that has been inherited by previous leaders.

"President Jokowi, with an inclusive and development-oriented diplomatic approach, has succeeded in building close relations with many countries, including countries on the African continent,” he said.

Minister Budi Arie called on all parties to make HLF MSP and the 2nd IAF a success as a form of joint responsibility in realizing a more prosperous and peaceful world.

"With our experience, history, and commitment, I am confident that Indonesia will continue to be a key actor on the international stage, taking President Jokowi's legacy to a higher level," he said.

At the press conference, the minister was accompanied by Prabunindya Revta Revolusi, MCI's Public Information and Communications Director General. (MCI PR/TR/Elvira Inda Sari).
